Patience and tawakkul: effort first, then trust

After this lesson you can set up a Sabr Mode routine, with fixed check-in times, a wait-for-the-setup rule and a hold-to-plan rule, and explain why tawakkul means effort plus trust, not passivity.

Sabr aur tawakkul: pehle koshish, phir bharosa

Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne farmaya: 'Unt ko bandho aur Allah par bharosa karo' (Jami at-Tirmidhi 2517). Trading mein unt bandhna yeh hai: asset screen karna, position size nikalna, stop lagana aur plan likhna. Bharosa yeh hai ke nateeja Allah ke supurd kar ke har minute price check karna chhor dein. Bina stop ke coin le kar 'tawakkul' kehna sahi tawakkul nahi.

Sabr Mode apnayein: din mein do fixed waqt chart dekhein, jaise Fajr aur Maghrib ke baad. Crypto ki daily candle Pakistan time subah 5 baje band hoti hai. Entry ke saath hi stop aur target laga dein, alerts rakhein aur app band karein. Hafte mein trades ki hadd rakhein. Yaad rakhein: 2R ke bajaye 0.8R par profit le lena ek munafa wale tareeqe ko nuqsan wala bana sakta hai.

  1. Pehle unt bandhein: screen, size, stop, plan. Phir nateeja Allah par.
  2. Trading mein sabr teen waqt chahiye: trade se pehle, dauran aur baad mein.
  3. Winners ko jaldi kaatna same entries ke saath bhi nuqsan de sakta hai.

The story

Maryam, a software developer in Hyderabad, checked her portfolio more than 60 times a day. She moved stops, took profit at the first green candle and bought again when price ran without her. Her sister told her to 'just have tawakkul and leave it to Allah'. So Maryam swung to the other extreme: she bought a coin with no stop and did not look at it for four months. It fell 55%. Neither extreme worked. What she was missing was the balance in the hadith: tie your camel, then rely on Allah.

Tawakkul is not the same as doing nothing

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Tie your camel and rely on Allah' (Jami at-Tirmidhi 2517). In trading, tying the camel means the work you control: screening the asset, sizing the position, placing the stop and writing the plan. Relying on Allah means accepting the outcome you do not control, without panic and without abandoning the rules you set.

Passivity dressed up as tawakkul, such as buying with no plan and 'leaving it to Allah', is not what the hadith teaches. Neither is anxious control, where you refresh the price all day as if watching could move it. Both are ways of avoiding the real work: deciding in advance, then letting the decision play out.

Three kinds of sabr in trading

Most traders are patient in only one of these three stages. The stage you lack is usually where your money leaks. Look at your last ten trades and ask which of the three you broke most often: entering early, interfering during the trade, or reacting badly afterwards. That one stage is where your next improvement will come from.

  • Sabr before the trade: waiting until your setup is fully there, not something close to it.
  • Sabr during the trade: letting the stop and target do their work without interference.
  • Sabr after the trade: accepting the result and reviewing calmly, win or loss.

Sabr Mode: a routine you can follow

Barqish calls this discipline Sabr Mode. It is not a feeling you wait for; it is a set of habits you switch on in writing and follow on busy days and quiet ones. Together they remove the moments where impatience usually strikes: staring at live candles, deciding exits mid-trade and taking one more trade because the screen is open.

  • Fixed check-ins: twice a day, for example after Fajr and after Maghrib. The crypto daily candle closes at 5:00 am Pakistan time.
  • Alerts, not staring: set price alerts at your entry zone and your stop, then close the app.
  • Orders in advance: enter the stop and target when you enter, not later.
  • Hold to plan: no exit before stop or target unless a pre-written reason appears.
  • Weekly ceiling: a maximum number of new trades per week, such as three.
The numbers

What cutting winners early costs

Maryam takes 20 trades with the same setup. 8 win and 12 lose, and each loss is 1R. Following her plan, every winner reaches its 2R target: 8 x 2 = +16R, minus 12 x 1 = 12R, gives +4R.

Impatient version: she grabs profit at 0.8R on every winner because she cannot bear to watch. 8 x 0.8 = +6.4R, minus 12R, gives -5.6R. Same entries, same stops, opposite result.

With 1R = Rs 3,000, that is +Rs 12,000 against -Rs 16,800: a gap of Rs 28,800 caused only by impatience.

The Islamic lens

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Tie your camel and rely on Allah' (Jami at-Tirmidhi 2517): effort first, then trust. The Quran promises that whoever is mindful of Allah, He makes a way out for him and provides from where he does not expect, and whoever relies on Allah, He is sufficient for him (Quran 65:2-3). Tawakkul frees you from checking the price every five minutes, because the outcome was never in the chart's hands or yours. It does not free you from doing the homework.

Jami at-Tirmidhi 2517Quran 65:2-3

Education, not a fatwa. Where scholars differ, we say so. See what scholars say.

The trap

The trap is using religious words to excuse bad process. 'I have tawakkul' becomes a reason not to set a stop; 'sabr' becomes a reason to hold a losing trade far past its stop. Sabr is patience with a plan, not stubbornness against it. Holding a loser without a stop is not patience. It is hope, paid for with your savings.

Your drill

Open the daily BTC chart with Supertrend and the 20 EMA. Pick one past pullback entry and step through it candle by candle. Mark where an impatient trader would have exited at the first red candle, and where a trader following the Supertrend exit would have left. Compare both results in R.

Key takeaways

  1. Tawakkul means tie your camel first: screen, size, stop and plan, then trust Allah with the outcome.
  2. Sabr has three stages in trading, before, during and after the trade, so find the one you lack.
  3. Cutting winners early can turn a profitable method into a losing one with the same entries.

Check yourself

Pass with 2 of 3 to complete the lesson. Answers are checked on our server, so the certificate means something.

1. Which action best matches 'Tie your camel and rely on Allah' in trading?

2. Your method wins 40% of trades. Winners reach 2R and losers lose 1R. Over 10 trades, what is the result if you follow the plan?

3. Your trade hits its stop, but you feel sure it will bounce, so you remove the stop 'with sabr'. What is this really?
