Is Jito (JTO) halal?

? Questionable

Questionable (shubha). Our screening found issues that many scholars would question.

Liquid staking / restaking. Represents staked coins and their rewards, and is often reused in lending and restaking to earn more. Validation rewards are generally not riba, but the extra yield layers, lending use and slashing risk raise questions, so it is marked questionable.

Liquid staking on Solana with extra MEV rewards.

Roman Urdu: Yeh staked coins aur un ke reward ki numainda hai, jo aksar lending aur restaking mein dobara lagaya jata hai. Validation reward aam taur par sood nahi, lekin extra yield, lending aur slashing ke khatre ki wajah se mashkook.

If you decide to trade JTO

  • Buy on spot only. Futures, margin and leverage are widely considered impermissible and are the fastest way to lose money.
  • Avoid exchange “Earn”, lending and fixed-yield products. Those usually pay interest.
  • If you already hold it, many scholars advise leaving doubtful matters, and giving any doubtful gain in charity.
  • Only use money you can afford to lose, and always set a stop-loss.

Scholars differ

Contemporary scholars disagree about cryptocurrency, and some consider all of it impermissible. This page is a transparent, criteria-based screening to help you think clearly. It is not a fatwa. For a ruling on your situation, ask a qualified scholar you trust. Read our full methodology.

Screening confidence81%
✓
Real purposeThe asset does something real: money, network fuel, a service or a claim on a real product.
!
No riba at the coreThe protocol does not earn or pay interest as its main business. Rewards come from validators, but the token is widely deposited in lending markets to earn interest.
✓
Not gambling (maysir)Value is not a pure bet on hype, lotteries or zero-sum games.
!
Clear terms (no gharar)Supply, rules and ownership are transparent and knowable.
✓
No prohibited industryNot tied to alcohol, adult content, gambling platforms or weapons.
✓
No built-in leverageThe token itself is not a derivative, margin or futures product.
!
Staking is a service, not a loanAny rewards come from validating the network, not from lending at interest. Staking to secure a network is widely accepted; layering extra yield and lending on top is where scholars hesitate.
✓
Full possession on spot (qabd)You pay in full and can withdraw to your own wallet; no short selling of what you do not own.

What would change this verdict: It would move to Compliant if the questionable income were removed or ring-fenced, and scholars converged. It would move to Non-compliant if riba or gambling became its core.

Purification (tathir): If you still trade a doubtful coin, many scholars advise purifying the portion of profit that may come from impermissible income. When the exact share is unknown, a common practice is to give around 5% of net profit to charity, more if the doubt is large. This is precautionary guidance, not a fatwa.

Keeping your trading Shariah-compliant

Screening criteria follow the framework used by contemporary Shariah crypto screens: purpose of the asset, riba, maysir and gharar, prohibited industries, leverage, staking model and possession (qabd). Opinions differ among scholars on individual coins; Barqish shows the reasoning so you can ask your own scholar. This is educational screening, not a fatwa.
